Buyer changed parcel to collection

Hi all, I sent a parcel a few days ago.

I used the eBay QR code drop off to send to the buyers address on file like I alsways do. I've noticed the buyer has changed the delivery to collection from a post office.

The parcel says ready for collection with an explanation mark! They have not collected it today and the post office they have sent it to us closed now.

What has my buyer done here and am I protected from a potential INR?

Thanks.

Buyer changed parcel to collection

Hi mate, well nobody said if it was a good idea or not.

Part of me is thinking contacting them could trigger an INR. For instance say they have already collected and I say " I'd like to remind you to collect the parcel you redirected ".

On the flip side someone else ( not sure who ) could have done the redirect. And the buyer could still be waiting.

Im worried this person has had intentions to scam all along though, I checked her FB and she has a neg for selling and not a lot of feedback.

Should I message the buyer and ask her what her reason for redirecting is and politely remind her to collect?

Cheers.

See messages 6 and 8.  Both Vy and I obviously think you should do it.

There is no point in asking the buyer questions, just let her know it's waiting to be collected, that counts as good customer service.

Yeah but what if she's already collected. If I do message that could trigger an opportunity to launch INR? I do want her to collect though to close the sale and put my mind at rest. Why would someone redirect a letter box size package?

I spoke again to eBay and they have again assured me that I've done everything right. Including contacting customer service. Therefore im covered should the buyer decided to put in an INR. Hopefully this thread will help someone in the future.

Im hoping my buyer finally collects it today, Im sure they have a legitimate reason for redirecting. I really wish Royal Mail would not allow people to do that.

I'll post an update when I get one.

So they still have not collected. Should I just bite the bullet and risk messaging them? Understand you and the other guy have already told me to. But im concerned that this was the buyers plan. To get me to ask why it's not been collected and then hit me with INR.

What should I do here?

Replying to myself.. I have messaged the buyer and included images of the tracking.

Politely reminding them to collect.

So let's see what the response will be..

Buyer replied,

They did indeed divert to post office and they had good reason. They are aware that it is ready for collection and have a collection code.

Hopefully my comments will help anyone else who experience a redirection in the future.

Cheers to users who replied. Peace ✌️
