Simple delivery!

Won't let me post small paper items in an ordinary letter. Insists I have to choose Large Letter and charge accordingly.

Have no choice but to end all my small items.

How much longer do we have to put up with this?

Ebay will not survive this mismanagement.

Shame.

The OP has said he/she doesn't get Custom Postage in any category. Myself #5 and Ruby have mentioned trying other categories.

I therefore conclude it works differently for you and OP.

forestdon hasn't actually said what precise categories he has tried, but I am pretty sure that the reason he has been unable to get the custom postage option to come is because is most probably that the categories/sub-categories he has tried are for some reason not included in SD exempt.   It seems to be that although the overall coolectables category is included in those that are potentially exempt from SD, there are some sub-categories which are excluded.

I only got the custom option to appear by making the trial listing in the general postcard category (and I doubt very much if that would be suitable for specialist postcards like railway locomotives), but when I tried to refine it to a more closely defined category (as forestdon had done with his now ended listings), that option was taken away.

I would find it hard to believe that his account is behaving that differently from anyone elses, and think that there is an issue where some sub-categories which should really have the SD exempt option available (ie. the postcard sub-category within Railwayana), are being excluded because a category higher up the category tree they are listed under, is not exempt (in this case the Railwayana category).

Fair enough. He or she has said "I do not get Custom Postage in any category. I do not get Custom Postage in any category."

So, *if* they've not bothered even trying my, ruby and now your advice. I don't think there's much more I can say.

Indeed I doubt I'll have anything more to say on this anyway. I'm not on mandatory SD so can't see for myself.

I assure you I am "bothering" and bothered.

True I don't have the time that you spend on SD but then like so many small private sellers my sales have totally dried up since BP and SD, as buyers refuse pay BP and sellers trying to give them a good untracked postage deal are now unable to help them out. Ebay is now no longer worth spending time on. All I have left are a handful of old Custom Posts , which the moment I try to revise, drop into SD. I guess they will end finally next week then.

My message 21 says you have tried different categories.
fotherbale #22 is the one implying you haven't tried the general postcard category; and finds it difficult to believe that two members accounts work differently - yours and his/hers.

That's why *if* is highlighted in my response. I don't think it's true.

I'm having the same issue. I sell toys under the collectibles category and just went to list 1 and the custom delivery option is gone for me, even though collectibles are suppose to be excluded from simple delivery.

Fairly small/thin toys (large letter); and under £10?

And if yes, it appears not all subcategories under Collectables are excluded.

I quickly went through all the previous messages having read something on another thread. Did you answer whether you were using a tablet/mobile or a PC/Mac web browser?

In any case, if you still have patience I would try again on (whatever is available to you of):

-a PC/Mac Chrome web browser

-a PC/Mac different web browser

-currently installed Android app

-latest version of Android app if it wasn't already.

The person on the other thread said they had different results between the app and a PC web browser.

i have just been 'messing' around with two of my items which i had on previously (WW11/royal handerchiefs) which i had put on originally as collectables (linen) and it was only SD.  One of them i had on at £10 so reduced that and changed the collectable catergory (2 different ones) and both have come up as custom!   I also have them listed as large letter!   Absolutely stupid, a handkerchief is still a handkerchief regardless.....   Will leave them on for now because i will be delisting all my now 6 experimental items in the next week.  I have started on the new site where i may not sell much but i will be happier.

Interesting.

I'm using a desk PC, recently changed from Firefox, which slowed to totally unusable with eBay, to MSN Bing.

I'm not Generation Tech but I just don't see how ........?

That sounds a bit odd - I use a 17 year old pc with Firefox on Windows 7 (so not the most up-to-date version of FF admittedly), but I don't have any issues with the browser slowing up, even with multiple tabs open.

Latest Firefox has extra features which I've been trying to switch off.
