When someone from a country that I do not ship to attempts to enter a bid, what do they see when they cannot enter that bid? How do they know why they cannot bid?
I ask because when I look at my Buyer Requirements Activity Log I can see people who have tried ten or twenty times in the space of a few minutes to enter a bid. Why do they continue after the first couple of failures? Whilst it does not really directly affect me, it occurs to me that they must be getting very upset.
I did wonder if it is a language thing, but I’ve seen this from bidders in the USA so perhaps not.
Why does Ebay even show them auctions they can’t bid in?

Good Afternoon EL
The reason that they make so many attempts at bdding is that they feel there is a glitch in the system and they are hoping that it clears and allows their bid.
Overseas prospective buyers in 'the know' realising that a seller restricts sales to the UK use a shipping agent to buy and receive their item.
Hope that this helps.

There used to be a flag in the Site Preferences that could be set to hide listings from buyers in countries that the seller doesn't send to.
I can't find it now. Does anyone know if it's been removed? There used to be a lot more options in Site Preferences, then it got 'improved' and they don't seem to be there any more. They were useful options. I guess that's why they've disappeared.

Thanks to a response given by *vyolla* on another post, the ability to block buyers that reside in a location that you don't ship to can be found at https://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?BuyerBlockPreferences
I didn't think to look there.

Yes, I have that set, and it does stop them from bidding. But it doesn't stop them from attempting to bid. Again and again and again. If there ever was a setting that stopped people in countries I don't ship to from seeing my listings, I'd love to get it back!
This isn't really a problem for me, but I worry (a little) at the mental picture I get of frustrated Ebayers bashing the bid button twenty times harder and harder before throwing their laptop at the wall. 😔

Does anybody know where the 'buyer requirements activity log' is to be found? I have found it in the past but have been searching around for it recently and can't find it anywhere (I'm on a private sellers account , which *may* be differently structured to a business account....?)

The eBay system is doing its job if these buyers are prevented from making bids. After clicking submit on a bid, they will see a generic error message along the lines of the "you can't bid on this item due to seller's settings". I don't think there is specific reference to the problem being about their location.
I don't know what items you sell, it might be genuine buyers who are disappointed that they can't bid on your items. But I suspect it will be more shady cases where you don't need to feel sorry for them.
