I am a private seller (by choice) who does a small amount of business abroad, maybe one item a month. I normally avoid using Ebay’s Global Shipping Programme as I find it more expensive than it needs to be and slow at getting to the customer. I normally arrange my own postage outside of Ebay thro Royal Mail and find it cheaper for the customer and gets there quicker (it seems to spend less time in the UK in my experience).
Anyway, I input the tracking number into Ebay and tracking is normally great in the UK but once it gets abroad, especially into some of the South American countries, there is not a lot of visible tracking. At the moment, I know an order has got to its destination as I receive feedback or I ask and receive feedback. It doesn’t often show as ‘Delivered’ automatically in Ebay.
So, my question is “How is Ebay going to know that my consignment has been delivered and therefore pay me automatically?”
p.s. Don’t get me started on why I have to wait for my money until delivery. Some of these International orders can take up to a month to get there!! Totally unfair and possibly illegal?!

Come Feb 4th, I think a lot of us will be UK only sales.

To add to other members comments.
After 4th Feb eBay's Private Account Sellers can use GSP for International sales as the Simple Delivery is to the UK GPS depot only, then GPS take over.

My problem with international sales is only because of the new set-up where you receive your funds from ebay AFTER there's been delivery confirmation.
I can't wait 2-3 weeks (to get delivery confirmation) on an international sale, before getting paid, it's ridiculous.
At least with a UK sale I'm pretty sure it will be delivered in a few days.
A business may be able to cope with that kind of lag, but not private sellers.

With the Gobal shipping you send tracked to The UK Hub then you get paid. GSP taken over the delivery.

If there is no delivery confirmation then payment will be released automatically 14 days after date of order.

I would have thought that would be the other way round. Having to wait is inconvenient but it shouldn't be a major problem for most genuine private sellers as they are not dependant on the funds.

You would have thought wrong then.
Private sellers dont have unlimited funds to pay for postage.

Oh, I never saw this. Have you a link to where it tells you this please?

apologies for the late reply to your GSP point.
the downside of using ebays GSP service is the you have to send the item to their UK hub at no cost to the buyer - obviously using a tracked service, daft if you dont - so another £4 (packaging costs too) you have to absorb into the sale.
It's too much.
