Sat outside Greggs today having a coffee. 2 people opposite, chatting and having a coffee. Their chat turned to the Government and the u-turn on benefits. Chap A said "U-turns are a sign of weakness and incompetence and I've got no time for anyone who does that sort of thing". 10 mins later, chap A started on about his selling on ebay and how things are bad due to simple delivery. He said "ebay aren't listening to sellers. they know its not wanted - they should change it back to how it was before". Oh, I thought; you mean you want ebay to do a u-turn then. I so wanted to say something but I kept my mouth shut.

"Sat outside Greggs today having a coffee."
My coffee today was with a friend who I haven't seen for a long time. The conversation turned to ebay. Cue astonished look from my friend and the comment "but...but... you've always waxed lyrical about ebay, you've always said it's the best thing since sliced bread". As I say, it's a long time since we last met up. Sad how times change 😥

Greggs is an honest business no comparison 🤣
and yes ebay have done some u turns
Will they make the big one? maybe
if not they will soften up their custom delivery policy
wisest move

If there were elections in which users voted on who runs eBay, they would take a bit more notice of what users think and probably would have u-turned by now. Instead, they will study their quarterly reports and conclude that the SD bump has started to smooth out due to new users and compliant old users.

What will also bump up the figures is the Buyers Protection Fee as well as the profit on the Simple Delivery postage deals with RM/Evri. Whether that will be enough to offset the loss of Sellers' listing fees and Final Value Fees is anyone's guess.
On the business selling front, they've got the new "fee if anybody clicks on your promoted listing even if it isn't that click that leads to the sale".
Financial reports might be different in the States, but presumably investors/shareholders will only see the overall figures, not the breakdown as to whether the profits come from the above-mentioned sources, or from an increased volume of sales. And it won't matter to them anyway, only the bottom line and their dividends and share value will matter. So sales could plummet, but profits could still increase.

For a while perhaps, but after a while sellers will realise that no matter how much cash they throw at ebay their sales don't increase to cover the outlay and ebay grows fat while they're getting hungrier.
