Why has VAT been added to the postage cost after the listing ended.
Before I placed a bid the postage cost shown on the listing was £9. But after paying for the item the postage cost changed to £10.80 in my orders.
The VAT amount shown in my orders is £2.24 ? 44p on the BPF & £1.80 on postage.
Why was the total fee for postage not shown on the listing.
UK private seller, item was used & I'm in the UK.
Thank you

I've found this information
"eBay has introduced a delivery fee for certain items purchased on eBay.co.uk, and charges VAT on the eBay delivery fee where the fee applies."
No info for what "certain items" are but why add VAT to postage charge after the listing ends? Postage charge should be shown as subject to VAT or include the VAT

Did you pay more in total than the bid amount (including the BPF), plus the £9 postage on the listing?

48.41 bid amount
50.62 including BPF
9.00 postage
2.24 VAT
61.86 total

Can you screenshot the order page?

Postage was listed as £9.00 before auction ended, unfortunately I didn't take a screen shot.
If eBay are going to add to VAT to the postage as they as suppling the service I believe the postage cost on the listing should include VAT

screenshot of my ended watch list showing the item price including BPF which includes VAT. The original £9 postage amount shown on the listing.
£1.80 VAT is then added at the checkout to the £9 postage price.
I am assuming that as the BPF is a service, eBay then add VAT to the postage charge.
Think it is very misleading & it should be clearly stated on listings that postage charges are subject to VAT or VAT automatically added to the postage cost when the item is listed.

From what I understand £10.80 is the correct price for a RM only 10-20kg parcel.
For some reason the VAT on Simple Delivery isn't always shown e.g. if you look at that item on ebay.com you will see £9 as the postage rate. (If you buy it on ebay.com it's then added and shown when you go to buy.)
I realise that doesn't really answer the question (unless you were using ebay.com or any other country's site.) £10.80 appears to be correct and doesn't seem to vary as suggested in message 2.

I If the listing did have £9 postage then that is very odd and I think you need to ask ebay what happened. What is meant to happen is as per the details below of a recent purchase I made. I paid exactly what the ended auction indicated I would.
