Can anyone explain why the Simple Delivery postage cost using the Royal Mail option is more than buying the same postage directly from the Royal Mail website.
PARCEL SIZE
Up to a 2 kg parcel, size up to 45 x 35 x 16cm.
Simple Delivery price selecting Royal Mail delivery option only. £4.48.
Royal Mail website price. £3.45. Plus 30p for collection and bringing the label. Fully tracked with updated emails and insured up to £150.00.
thanks

Because items over £100 have a higher postage cost

Thank you for your reply.
The item I have listed is £120.00 but it fits in a small parcel up to 2 kg.
Royal Mail website postage cost for this is still £3.45 plus 30p collection. Insured up to £150.00 fully tracked so I don’t understand why eBay are charging buyers £4.48.
eBay already make money with their buyer protection fee.
Why should selling an item above £100.00 make a difference to the postage cost when it doesn’t make any difference to Royal Mail.

Indeed
i don’t have the answer
I suppose legally there must be nothing to stop them overcharging
it should have had maybe higher postage rates for items over £150
