Simple Delivery is now the default setting but it is possible to opt out of Simple Delivery by selecting "Switch to Advance Options". Why is Ebay pushing this?
Simple, Ebay gets a discount on the postage and creams off some of the cost the buyer pays. The seller gets nothing to cover packaging and other costs like driving to the post office because home collection is not offered with Simple delivery. My advice is OPT OUT OF SIMPLE DELIVERY
Solved! Go to Solution.

I have just completed an email survey from ebay regarding their new SD system. I have expressed dismay at the change and there is a possibility that I may be picked for a 30-minute zoom conference call.
A chance for a face to face discussion about the failings of SD will be good if I am selected. I hope all the others here on this thread will follow suit! Perhaps our voices will be heard.

There's supposed to be a 2-10kg band priced as shown below but with most things Simple Delivery it's not showing.
There have been far too many adjustments made already to try to correct things which should have been tested & sorted before this was released

This is true but what can we do
wait for 15th and if it doesn’t go smoothly they will continue to have the reputation of being incompetent at best as they have been so far I guess lol

most RM prices and cheaper going direct with RM ?

posted 8 items with RM, large letters/small parcels ,(one 24 ,one 3kg) rm cost £27.69 ,
SD cost would be £32.73 without RM 24 ?

Good luck if you have the Zoom meet! I think anyone's opinion opposed to SD will end up in a black hole!
Along with eBay's attitude/ignorance, its now a case (for them)... 'you've made your bed, now lie in it'..

I've had this forced on me today. I'm disabled and live in the sticks - I don't have accessible drop off locations. I always used to use Royal Mail Tracked 48 for everything, print off a label and the postie picked up my stuff the next day.
Now I have to request an email, load a label, print it, log on to the royal mail site, enter all the details AGAIN and book a collection. This is far more work than it ever was before.
This is yet again another cash grab by eBay after the joys of the "Buyer Protection fee" which effectively made it impossible for any private sellers to sell cheap items like DVDs and BluRays at all (sigh).
I sold a bundle of items to a buyer today who paid far more postage than he should have - this would previously have been fine - I'd have just purchased the postage together then refunded the difference, but now I can't do that - eBay pocket it

There is somewhere on another thread a thing about unused labels initiating a refund to the buyer but after at least 30 days. So in theory if you could get several items together within the weight of one label the buyer would be refunded...eventually...

I am housebound and normally get my RM postie to collect outgoing Large letters. Most items i sell are £2 & £2 P&P and A4 size. Ebay wont accecp untracked methods and £2.74 minimum fee is too much to pass on so it looks like my 24 years using ebay is over. Bad enough waiting 12 days for payment (when the buyer has already given positive feedback). Rant over

They are doing this to make more money. SIMPLE!!!!! How do I move to advanced settings to opt out of Simple Delivery?
03-05-2025 3:09 PM
i think Simple Delivery is compulsory now. only listed 2 items under that ruling. Too expensive and no consideration of packaging costs - plus this week royal mail charging for collection 30p per item

How do you "Switch to Advance Options"?

I spoke to an Ebay Manager on Thursday 1st May, complaining bitterly about Simple Delivery. All I was getting in response was the "PARTY LINE". Otherwise, she was not listening. I wish you lick in your Zoom Call, but I don't hold out much hope!

How do you OPT OUT OF SIMPLE DELIVERY?

"Advanced options" you may be able to still opt out but then again it might not be there for you. They have no date now for making it compulsory because they are doing it on accounts "in waves" as they call it. Some people will be able to opt out and others not and there is no way to tell when it will be you. I have relisted a few just to find out when it happens to me by checking them every day

If you have been moved to Simple Delivery you can only opt out if your items are under £10 and less than 100g and fit in a letter size or they are in one of the excluded categories listed in the link below.
Note it's only selected sub categories not the whole category.

when the buyers premium plus the postage is double the cost of te item then the business is not viable for buyer or seller. also unable to pass on the envelope cost 25p and royal mail collection 30p it becomes a perfect storm. Just wind down the listings i have.
