Hi All, Am I correct in saying that from 20th May I can no longer use my own new Royal Stamps specifically

purchased for use on Ebay.

At the moment eBay Private Sellers can use postage stamps on letters under £10 weighing 100g.

Anything over this value or weight are posted by eBay's Simple Delivery.

eBay may make changes in the future & will update eBayers.

In additional to the above, there are also other exclusions - i.e. where you arrange the shipping method.

Size based exemption is on letter items, not large letter; or over the maximum size.

Please explain to me why all the items i am listing at the moment are large letter size the ones under ten pounds and under 750g are going by normal post over ten pounds by SD

Lots of large letter size items are exempt from Simple Delivery.

As long as the price is under £10 and you enter the weight as 99g (or less) and the dimensions are LL size, you can still list and sell the following items without using Simple Delivery:

I am sending CDs (an excluded category for SD) over £10 and 130g+ by my own £1.80 eBay labels. SD is not forced to be used regardless of price for LL, regardless of weight in an SD excluded category.

CDs/DVDs are excluded from SD for me regardless of weight and price under LL.

No. I am selling things for £15 - £20 that do not require SD, if the item is in an excluded category.

It does have to be under £10.  This is from the link in my previous post:

'From 15 April, we’ll gradually introduce Simple Delivery as the only delivery method available for private sellers who list eligible items on eBay.co.uk. The option to opt out is only available for letter-sized items in specific categories that are priced £10 and under. Please see our Seller Centre - opens in new window or tab page and the Opting out section below for more information.'

It may be that some items priced over £10 are still not being listed with SD - it is still being rolled out across the site.

It would be useful to be able to see this on your account - I assume you have a different account for selling.

This is the published policy:

"The option to opt out and select Custom postage instead will only be available for letter-sized items in the specific categories below that are priced £10 and under."

If it's not working that way, that's up to ebay. I also don't know what you are selling and there are other exemptions, not just on size.

I know you believe you are correct, but did you look at the list of exempted items?

It specifically includes, for example, video games, wallets, tags & charms for pets, seeds and bulbs (I can't think of any bulbs thinner than 5mm) and lots of other things that would simply not fit in a letter.

There was a lot of debate about this during which it became clear that the policy makers at Ebay did not understand what a large letter was, which is why the list of exemptions was produced.

This is from one of my current listings - clearly showing that LL are still allowed.  The item is specifically named as using that service and the dimensions are for a LL.
