Royal Mail Rip Off Warning

I just want to let fellow eBay users know about my latest issue with Royal Mail. I posted an item worth £47.00 via Royal Mail 24 hour tracked large letter which cost me £3.50. It tells you when you buy the postage that you can claim up to £150.00 if the article is lost or  damaged. The item was a collectible coin which was missing when it arrived at the buyer's address because the padded envelope was ripped open. I sent in a claim for the item to Royal Mail but it was rejected. They sent me a letter saying that claims for items containing cash, tickets, vouchers / gift cards, jewellery or precious metals can only be considered if sent via their Special Delivery Guaranteed Service. The cheapest Special Delivery is around £7.50 for a large letter. It is just a rip off.

I used to sell a few coins nothing of that value, they were all under £10,   but the T & C's then,   and I don't believe they've changed,  coins are excluded from basic tracked posted items.

Unfortunately,  it is there,  all in the small print.  😐
