Ive been using Ebay for over  25 years and this simple delivery is mystifying me because it is only charging £2.72 and when the labels are printed its coming out as tracked 48.

This is fine for my low end items as tracked 48 covers upto £75, i believe.

My issue is with the over £75 items upto £150. I have managed to change it to Tracked 24 when listing the item but it is still showing as £2.72 and I do not know for the life of me how to change price to £3.65.

I dont want to send an item and only be covered for £75 if its worth £150.

I am getting really frustrated with it all.

Thanks for any help.

'With Simple Delivery the compensation/protection is provided by eBay, not the carrier, so Royal Mail's £75 compensation, which applies to Tracked 24 as well as Tracked 48, isn't relevant.

Eligible items are protected for the full amount sold for; there is no cover limit.  To be eligible items need to have a 'Buy it Now' or auction start price of £750 or less (£300 for some electronic items such as smartphones).'

'How is my item protected?

Items are protected against loss or damage from the moment they are scanned into the courier’s delivery network until they are marked as delivered by the courier. There’s also no need to call the courier or customer support. In the event that a buyer raises a claim for an issue that occurs during transit, you won’t be held responsible. Even fragile items are protected when you follow our packaging guidance.

There’s no cover limit for eligible items with Simple Delivery. They’re fully protected for the amount they were sold for on eBay providing you post the item using the prepaid Simple Delivery label provided, comply with the eBay delivery Terms and Conditions, and properly package the item.'

'Which listings are eligible for Simple Delivery?

Simple Delivery is currently available to private sellers in the UK selling:

  • Items in eligible categories that have a 'Buy it Now' price or auction starting price of £750 or less'

To add to excellent advice received, you are correct... T48 is cheaper through eBay's Simple Delivery than over-the-counter at Royal Mail.

I wouldt worry about upping the insurance value, you will only ever get back what you paid for the item (if you have a receipt for it) you never get paid out for what it sold for and even if you get anything it can take up to 6 months to get paid out.

That isn’t necessarily true.  Royal Mail has different terms for personal (non-account) customers versus business (account) customers.  For personal customers it is the 'market value' of the item that is used.

Royal mail isnt licenced or authorised to offer and sell insurance by any legal UK regulator so they can do pretty much whatever they like.
