Postage Label not generating error - It was not possible to generate the label. Something is wrong.

When I click the "Get Postage Label" to generate a label or QR code the below red box error shows;

"It was not possible to generate the label. Something is wrong. Please try again later."

This is happening on each of the 3 items I have sold and it happened last week - both instances have been raised to ebay support but no update has ever been provided. It took nearly an hour each time to explain

I have used this service for many years and never had an issue generating a postage label

I had the same issue. The prepaid label didn’t get generated and even after 4 days and wasting so much time talking and explaining it couldn’t be resolved. Had to buy my own label n ship  the goods delivered to the buyer but I still cannot change the status to goods shipped  , because it keeps saying to geberate the prepaid label. .. absolutely disgusted with the service ..    crealtecnologies2011

Im having the same issue on both prepaid simple delivery and custom postage. Any update @marco? Ive tried contacted eBay support. Absolutely ridiculous

I am having the same issue need to get one sent. 

Why can't we get to see full buyers address so that we can make our own arrangements if we want to i need to have collection as I am housebound.

Yep exactly the same things happening to me came to see if there’s a way round it but clearly marco doesn’t want to get back to anyone 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Someone has just posted this, see below,  perhaps this is the reason why you and so many others are in the same predicament?

The business Click and Drop website is down since sometime last night. I assume this is related and eBay's RM labels are generated from the same domain.

Same here. Was going to go to the post office this morning. It say that RM are experiencing issues which is why most likely they won't let us generate a label. To add an insult to injury - you have to wait for the item to be delivered before you even receive the funds. So if I can't post it today I will experience an extra delay before I even get paid. What a ridiculous system. Never have I had as many issues with ebay - both as a buyer and seller, as in relation to Simple Delivery. This service is an unmitigated disaster and it's not just putting me off selling but buying on ebay too

I agree with you total disaster.

Never has a single problem when doing my own postage and now every time I do a simple delivery there is a problem.

And it is embarrassing that you have to go to the buyer and say sorry can't send parcel as simple delivery is rubbish. 

In these instances you should be able to get the buyers address and arrange your own postage we all did it before without out issues. I would be prepared to pay the postage again if it meant that the buyer gets his item  if not resolved i may go to the buyer and either ask him if he will wait or if he wants to cancel seeing as ebay will not let us get their address.

Come on ebay listen to the sellers and buyers and scrap this stupid simple delivery

This is what happens when you let greed dictate your business strategy.

As an FYI - you can in fact see the buyer's full address if you wanted to pay for the postage yourself. You just need to click on the "Get prepaid label" section like you normally would and then click on the little pencil next to the item - this will show you the buyer's full address (see the screenshot)

Hi great I didn't see that. I am going to contact ebay when they open and tell them that I am going to make may own agreements if I they are not back up and running by lunch time tomorrow.

Only thing will I be able to 

A) when it does get back up after  I have arranged my own postage be able  to get the label then cancel it so I get a refund and

B) will it allow me to update tracking number if I have used my own postage

If on the SD labels you had buyer pays,  then the buyer will automatically be refunded the postage they paid,  but it can take 30 days!

If you had seller pays,  then you need to manually cancel the label for a refund,  and do so within 14 days.

To add your own tracking numbers:

• Go to "Orders Paid & Dispatched"
• Click on "View order details"
• Within the "Postage" section there's a small dropdown arrow next to "Track Package" - click on that.
• Click on the "Add tracking" option
• A box will come up with the current tracking number . Delete that and replace it with your tracking.

The buyer paid the postage but I am not worried about that just want then to get their  item. I am wondering though going forward if I decide to put anything else on would it be better to do as seller pays post but put postage on top of item cost.

Thoughts please

As previously posted this is where ebay need to put a back up plan in place if the happens custom postage comes in to play and we can still despatch items who knows how long it will be down
