Hi all,
An item I sold was delivered 2 days ago by Royal Mail. Tracking shows it was delivered but left with the neighbour. The buyer says they've spoken to the neighbour and apparently the neighbour doesn't have it. What should I do in this situation?

It might not be with THAT neighbour
Ask them to try other neighbours
If you have tracking showing delivery eBay will not make you refund
Make sure the tracking number is uploaded to the case if (when) the buyer opens one

They've wrote the door number of the neighbour they left at. The tracking doesn't show a picture of proof, however does give you the location it was scanned at.

To add... I may be wrong, but I thought that Royal Mail, these days, don't leave parcels with neighbours unless they are nominated.
I think that I would try to call the delivery office for the area covering the buyers address & see if they can contact the postie to see if they remember leaving it with a neighbour & if this is their usual arrangement as the neighbour has said they don’t have it.
Royal Mail is pretty hot on any form of fraud & this time of year many temps are employed.
There are more ways for a buyer to get a refund, so putting in the leg work now may save you further down the line if needed.
I would also take screenshots of the tracking results as they don't stay for ever.
You can also sometimes learn something from doing a street view on Google if you have time.

True Story -
A few Christmases ago a delivery was made to my neighbour - I was actually poorly at the time so did not go to them until a couple of days later, they opened the door I showed them the card and she said oh because you did not come that day we opened it , nice chocolates by the way and shut the door?!?!
I was flabbergasted! And left speechless... we have not spoken since.
Thornton chocolates - No joy from the postal service but my Aunt ( who had sent them) contacted Thorntons, explained, sent them the delivery details etc etc, and within a week, Thorntons sent a huge box full of chocolates and extra goodies. I cannot recall the name of the postal service they used, but what a great service from a reputable company who obviously cared about their customers.
The following Christmas I placed a huge order with them, they deserved my custom.

Does it show delivered on the system?
If so, ask them to open item not received case via eBay... and take it from there.

Aww, well done Thorntons & well done auntie... huge thumbs down to the neighbour, what a cheek!
