Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

There are highs and lows for many delivery companies. Sometimes, we, as a business find one is ok for a period and then we have to move to another. Staff seems to be the key, rather unsurprisingly but we keep our options open and on many days use multiple companies. I have seen complaints about royal mail, Yodel and Evri (Hermes) most recently but to date I have to say that being a small seller and sending up to 11 or 12 packages a day Royal Mail works for us. But buying is a different matter and this is where I join in others by asking why does eBay continue to support a company like Evri, who to us, has failed consistantly to deliver or even when it has finally got to us the delivery is substandard, smashed, broken. I am yet again awaiting a package costing over a 100.00 and being resold as part of another set of items. three days after its last due date its not here and tracking has stopped, you dont know where it is, just the intended date and delivery but marked as delayed. This has happened so many times that now I pre empt and ask sellers not to send via Evri and if they have, as soon as it is delayed I start asking, using all the email address I have for Evri and eBay providing the tracking numbers. It costs me time that I could use elsehwre but this is because out of each three items lost I may actually get one by being quick. Seriously this is how many iotems go missing, get lost, are broken or the lates one is "destroyed" Sellers please understand, using Evri will end up taking a lot more time, cost you more money and probably losing the sale. By the same implication this must be costing eBay, who we know is all about the money, one hell of a lot of money. Evri may be cheap but they dont do the job. The mistake by many sellers is they dont understand that they have a reposnability to ensure the item gets to the buyer and not that it ends when they hand it over to the courier who is only contracted by them to deliver. In our case that contract has been broken many times and has cost sellers time and lost sales while eBay has had to fork out a lot of money in compensation. For us its loss of business, lost sales, while we will never use Evri to send we still have sellers we buy from keen on the "cheap" price and dont realise its false economy.

If you have bad service from Evri please complain, lets raise this profile and either get them to understand that its not about chat bots and automation, its the people they use to deliver, to handle and its obvious they are not motivated. Whats the use in having such a basic tracking and AI when the system just does not know where your package is or where it has been delivered or what to do about it when it is gone...... Somewhere in the ether of Evri.

I think I am now up to 7 missing parcels now.  Love using eBay but will stop if you continue to us Evri.  An absolute shambles.

I have lost a similar amount. Now prior to purchasing i will contact the seller to see which courier they are using. I also check to see if it is click and collect and the price of postage. If it is Evri i don't purchase. Even as a seller i have removed them from the courier list. Therefore i use Royal mail or Yodel because you can track the deliver.

lost or damaged all covered under simple delivery.

personally, evri, one lost, one damaged all monies refunded

selling privately was the foundation of this platform.

Businesses, can choose. Businesses have insurance and the ability to write off losses against tax. They can also choose other platforms such as A..... with dedicated drivers?

I am now boycotting EVRI. The past 8 orders - 2 lost in the system. One
delivered to a 'neighbour' (never tracked down) 5 not delivered to us but
left at various houses half a mile away. Proof of delivery photograph for
the latest was completely black.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

It’s not always that simple when the items buyers are purchasing are second hand, rare, limited numbers, discontinued or collectors items etc…

These types of items cannot be easily purchased again or at a price they are comfortable with. Hence why buyers are so emotionally charged by this atrocity of a company. It’s purely unacceptable.

I have had evri deliver next day, the norm 3-4 days. the worst 12 days to scottish island.

Personally, I think the service has got much better since this alliance with ebay..

the op is not showing any sales. Many on here use ghost accounts to comment. Businesses have a greater choice of courier of which I dare say offer such services for rare collectables. Do businesses offer the buyer a choice of courier or just get what suits their budget? If item lost the buyer gets all their money back. personally I would not get emotional over an item I have not owned, dissapointed it was lost yes.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

Somewhere in the UK there is a huge pile of undelivered parcels, higher than Mount Everest, and they all have Evri labels on them.

That pile doesn't actually exist my friend. All the parcels that are missing are in the homes of Evri drivers. Some hopefully, will be sold on eBay and get delivered by Evri, which would be REALLY ironic.

Joe Lycett, I think, done a tv show on hermes, now evri, many years ago. I felt sure such parcels were auctioned off, just like lost luggage and returns.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

Just adding to the pile of complaints, hopefully Ebay listen someday.

Been waiting for a package from a seller using Ebay SimpleBuy. Put my work address which is at a massive building and open 24 hours in London. We receive packages every day for hundreds of staff.

Receive a message saying delivery has been voided and is being returned to seller. Eventually got through to a human customer service agent, had no excuse.

Seems like they can decide not to deliver now.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

to gruffejones:  I hate posting to work addresses. Half the time people don't warn their post-in dept to expect it and pass it on. Post depts open them, ignoring the persons name, and sometimes even throw awy the delivery note, then leave it to one side and an hour later have no idea who it is for. I always use ebay delivery for these type of sales, as if there is a problem it becomes ebays problem.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

The worst thing is that Royal Mail now seem to be competing at being a terrible parcel delivery service. I think they cannot cope with deliveries either. In the past month I have had 2 parcels lost and 2 parcels they have damaged and repackaged with items missing from inside. I am starting to wonder what these delivery services do with the items. Do the staff that work there deliberately wreck the parcels to take the goods themselves?

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

I constantly get emails from EVRI saying that delivery failed.  I have a box clearly marked  PACKAGES and even floddlit at night, so this is a LIE!  Why oh why do eBay sellers keep using them?  I would happily pay a bit more to use another delivery service.  Cromwells used DPD or DHL - I'm not sure which - but the orders ALWAYS come the next day!

You never collected something, maybe. I am saying this with a smile and no attack intention, because there is not tone in writings.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

I hate it when, after buying something, I find out that Evri will be delivering it. The worst problem is that they invariably tell me by email that they'll be delivering in about 2 hours. What use is that? I don't stay in all day waiting for deliveries. Secondly, being able to give a Safe Place is good except they only provide a list of places, none of which are useful for me but there is no ability to make any additional Safe Place or amendment to what's listed. Thirdly, items tend to spend days at their hub being processed.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

The easy answer, as I stated a while back, is to ask a seller who he/she/it/they/whatever uses for delivery. If he/she/it/they/whatever says Evri, then politely tell them that you will buy elsewhere because of that. If they tell you Royal Mail, then use Evri, then leave them a negative feedback and tell everybody why.
