ebay new policy of not paying seller til item arrives.

i just received an email regarding ebay's new policy of not paying seller til item arrives.

the items i sell are small decals / stickers, they fit in an envelope and i post out at my cost with a first class stamp if sold within the UK, international orders are sent via international standard for an additional £3.

if ebay not require me to prove that the item is delivered before they pay me then i'll have to send as a tracked  / recorded delivery.

this will add £3 to my UK orders and the international delivery will go up to £8, i cant find any sort of email address to voice my concerns and the chat thing just goes round and round in circles.

i think i'm going to have to stop selling on the ebay platform because of this which is a shame, ive been doing it for around 16 years now, things have gotten very slow on ebay in the past couple of years and most of my customers come direct to my website but they ebay thing is still worth it as it raises awareness for the items i sell.

is anyone else going to be having this problem? seems like they are  making it not worth selling small, cheaper items now!

Hi

I have the same problem selling items from £1 - £5.00 means that the buyer will not want to pay for the cheapest postage £2.55 sing for 2nd class.

So we take all the hits for these sales if the customer states they did not get the item.

I have one just now and EBay just go with the customer what ever the circumstance.

We will now all have to build in a slush fund for refunds as the buyers will pick up on this very quickly.

We will have to pay for the refund and also pay for the "Lost" goods?

I wonder if they just do not want small sales any more.

these regular things that i sell are only £10 ish so similar to you. . . what's the point?

someone in ebay seems to think its a good idea but ebay is nothing without its sellers.

The payment holds only apply to *private sellers* so won't affect business sellers like yourself who make stickers to sell for a profit as that is a business activity

This is such a rubbish policy from eBay and I'm not sure why they have come up with this.  Sellers are more than protected under rhe current system, so not sure why they need to change things so significantly.

i'm thinking its the final straw for my eBay days! sales have been declining a lot via the ebay platform but then i do find i get more business direct now.  i do have some high value items that i sell and they are always sent recorded so may  keep up with them.

Ita all about money.
I worked for a LARGE USA company and I can tell you one small man sits at a desk and works out that a change in policy will save 2% and the directors will go nuts about i.

Regards
The end of small sales, unless we ADAPT

This new policy of not being paid until the customer recieves the item, makes no sense. The customer is always covered by them if the're not happy with a purchase, and they will over rule a no refund policy by us. And so you're aware, an item that is not tracked, but done with proper postage stamps can be traced as delivered just the same as signed for. A delivery person has to put it all in a hand held device, and take photos in some instances.

It's disgusting whatever you sell.

Its not going to affect me because my listings were taken off today and won't go on until eBay reinstates a fair system of payments.

cancelled all my listings on friday, my regular customers will just come direct in future. there are a few items that i sell at high value so will probably put them on as i can send them tracked without it making the item over priced.

that is true but i'm not willing to let ebay hold onto the money for 14 days so i'm bowing out of the ebay nonsense.

Even if you do send tracked and parcel is scanned as delivered and buyer leaves positive feedback they are still not paying sellers.

From what I have been able to find out I get the impression that there is something that buyers have to do to confirm delivery before sellers will get paid.

I have asked what this is and Ebay customer Services will not say.

My suspicion is they are wanting to scare off current and prospective private sellers & hobby sellers in favour of businesses and the Chinese. Don't pay sellers and make it too expensive to buy from private sellers and hope they leave.

That's exactly what I am beginning to suspect. They are trying to chase off private sellers, hobby sellers & people who sell a few items a month  like all the people who, make things cards, jewellery or who sell on clothing after a few wears you know?.. They are also making it so expensive to buy from private sellers and making it so difficult for private sellers to get paid for what they sell.

I already had a few messages from people who had items of mine on their watch lists and now they are too expensive to buy on Ebay and I'm being asked if I sell on Vinted.

Might not be long before the word VINTED is flagged up as not allowed in messages.

A lot of what I sell is £5 or less - £3.39 postage and who knows how long to get paid - not really any point.

I have written to my MP about this as it cannot be legal to withhold seller earnings like this.

You are 100% right . I am lucky in that the Postman here has been the same guy for decades. He always scans everything when it is tracked , signed for or just regular mail. If something has a bar code or QR code then it should be scanned as delivered. That is the preferred working practice but they are no obliged to do so.

What I do with orders that don't have tracking numbers and barcode but just reference numbers is put on a sticker "POSTIE PLEASE SCAN AS DELIVERED THANK YOU" and it does seem to work most of the time.

This of course is just for when I print labels myself. Not sure about posting from a Post Office.

This new system doesn't work.. are they thick?

eBay is currently holding back just under £400 worth of payment's, because there tracking software says it hasn't been delivered.

Yet all my buyers have left me positive feedback, and even messaged with photos of them showing me how good the parts look on there cars!

but still my payments are on hold... I've received nothing..

I just want to close my account.. but cant until I've been paid.

Ebay you suck! give me my money.

Good luck.

The new system isn't working.

I've sent items fully tracked, received positive feedback, and received emails via eBay's messaging system from the buyers thanking me for the goods..

But guess what..

Ebay still hasn't paid me, and still each item says Not Delivered! Payment on Hold!

Hi

Looking at my landing page its not easy to get to the page that shows you the transactions and EBay comment ie. pending

I had to create a short cut in Google once I found it

All transactions

Maybe you know this , sorry but it is not easy to find.

At least you can see what is pending and what is paid.

i think if you are going to use EBay then one a few weeks are in you should get paid every few days and just have to put up with it, I do not like it.

Does anyone sell goods at a £1.00 or so, I think this is now OVER as if you add the fees then it does not look like a deal.

I am going to combine items to increase the value, maybe this will help.

I sell stamps from £1.00 - £300 so will just have to re do my £1.00 items.

D....
