There is no incentive for buying on ebay & now ebay has done away with Nectar points & introduced this buyer protection fee , there is going to be less footfall & more headache's for hard pressed private sellers
The solution is simple .......spend £50 per month on ebay & get 50 x £1 sellers fee adverts
spend £75 per month on ebay & get 75 x £1 sellers fee adverts etc etc
If I told you I wrote to Eddie Garcia at ebay HQ pre the free listings launch , you would think ebay would have been all over this simple idea like a rash , to increase footfall & sales & give everyone a fair deal

I think some business sellers’ heads would break, mine included 😂.
Some out of the box ideas aren’t a bad thing but I just can’t see eBay giving private sellers another perk at the moment.

Do you use cashback sites? The one I use gives 10% on eBay purchases, sometimes they increase it to 12%.

My idea would have been in place of the Free listings & Buyer Protection Fee & I think increasing footfall & sales for private & business sellers would be warmly welcome by everyone , after all during a cost of living crisis footfall & sales should be up on ebay & It seems to me ebay is punishing private buyers & sellers at the moment ............There is no point in giving 300 free listings if there is no footfall & this was prior to the Buyer Protection Fee being introduced

Ah I see. So it would have been a £1 max FVF selling fee for every £1 spent as a buyer? I still think it would be unfair on business sellers but I am biased.
I take your point on the footfall and getting the buzz back on here. All the changes have left a lot of buyers and sellers uneasy… if Rory Sutherland did a talk on the state of eBay today I’d be fascinated to hear his take on it all.

Thanks for your reply , 10% /12% cashback sounds great ......... As I did buy & sell on ebay
But if i'm not selling on ebay = i'm not buying on ebay
If sales did ever increase then I would buy more on ebay , can you give me the name of the company ?

I just moved house & bought £600 worth of items all from business sellers on ebay , so the £1 fvf would work for business seller to

I use completesavings. If you buy on eBay on desktop it normally pops up after checkout, it is by an invite like that you can’t just sign up by googling it I don’t think. It’s worth reading the T&C’s, it’s £18 a month now but you can claim that back every month with a qualifying purchase (some reviewers on Trustpilot don’t seem to have read the terms).
Maybe someone else will have other suggestions. I think topcashback give 2% or something, I’m not signed up there.

You were wasting your time with your proposal.
Ebay have a policy of not accepting ideas:
At eBay, we appreciate comments from our members on our products and services. But we have a long-standing policy of not accepting unsolicited suggestions, ideas, or proposals.
We have this policy to avoid misunderstandings because new products, services, and features developed internally by eBay employees might be similar or even identical to a member's idea.
And:
We appreciate your input, but we can't respond to suggestions that are sent to eBay.

And that is why footfall & sales have fallen off a cliff as ebay are not listening to people who actually buy & sell on ebay & footfall & sales were down prior to the Buyer Protection Fee being introduced , So ebay are re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic after it's hit the iceberg .... BTW I did receive a phone call in response to my letter but ebay introduced the free listings for private sellers just a few weeks after the phone call , the UK ebay rep did say he would pass the idea on but i'm not going to hold my breath
