Payment Delays

It would appear that I’m not the only one experiencing payment delays at the moment. Previously, funds were appearing on my account just after the item was delivered. However, I have just had a sale where the item was delivered and the buyer had left positive feedback but days later and my balance had not been updated with the funds from the sale. When I went into payment details, the transaction status indicated that I still had to post the item, which was clearly incorrect.

Having then contacted eBay, I had a series of strange conversations ranging from not knowing why this had occurred and agreeing that the funds should have cleared, to the last conversation that indicated that the funds wouldn’t be available until a week after the item was delivered and this was due to their new payment policy introduced last August. 
I was more confused after these conversations than I was before as there is no indication of this on the payment details, no mention of funds on hold and certainly no mention of an expected date for the funds to reach my balance.

I’m still convinced in my case that this is due to the order details saying it’s been delivered and the payment details saying that the item still needs posting.  eBay didn’t seem interested though in fixing this issue and just kept saying that it was due to their new payment policy.

In the other persons case .....where they complained about not receiving their funds they are a new member so thats probably the reason for the hold

I was checking for you there, and this may be related to your selling history. While I understand that you've been on eBay for a while, it looks like you classify as an infrequent or returning seller due to your selling activity, so in this case, the holds on your transaction would be correct as per our policies. Thank you for your response.

I still find this confusing as I have made 6 sales this year and they were all paid just after delivery. This one was my 7th and payment is just marked as pending. The payment details still think that I have to post the item, when the order details state that it’s been delivered and I’ve received positive feedback. I would understand if the seller hadn’t provided any feedback, but what would be the point of holding funds when positive feedback has been left? And why were the previous 6 sales treated differently? All very confusing.

Sudden selling activity on a dormant account raises red flags to eBay as this could be a sign that the account is being hacked, so holds can be placed after one sale or several sales,  there can be no fixed pattern for security reasons.

 

Feedback cannot be taken into account as it can be left in error, as I found for the first time ever,  I left a positive feedback for a seller, for an item not yet received, and when it was received,  the items smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke even the packaging and box, that it had to be returned, and thankfully the feedback played no part,  I received a full refund.
