Cancelling order and refund

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone can help me understand what happens in this situation. A buyer placed an order, and I cancelled it shortly after and issued a refund—but I believe I did this before the payment had actually cleared into my account.

Now I’m unsure whether I’ll still receive that money or if I’ve essentially refunded something I never got paid for. My eBay balance shows the refund going through, but I never received the original payment.

Has anyone else experienced this? Will the money come back to me, or do I need to contact eBay directly?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The refund is taken from your back-up bank account,  and you keep the payment when it's released.

Yes, you will still receive the original payment into your account, so no need to contact eBay.

Thanks for your help.  Do you know why an item for less than the listing price. I am new to this and I ended up selling another item for far less than I had listed it for.

Sorry, I don't really understand what you mean.  An item can't sell for less than than it was listed for but there may be fees to pay, if you used any listing upgrades, promoted the listing, or sold internationally, meaning that you receive less.

I thought I listed it at a higher value. I will just remove it once everything is processed

If for example you are looking at the sold  router which sold for £13.17,  I doubt you actually listed it for that price, and therefore Buyer Protection Fees are added to your price,  the buyer pays this fee to eBay,  and you receive the amount you listed for the item.
