Buyer paid, ebay deleted his account

I sold an item and the buyer paid. Ebay messaged me soon after saying:

We had a concern with a buyer’s account

We wanted to let you know that a bid or order for the listing below was cancelled because of an issue with the buyer’s account:

Here’s what you should do

  • Don’t complete the sale or send the item to xxxx if you haven’t done so yet.
  • Don’t communicate any further with xxxx, especially if they get in touch with you outside of eBay.
  • If xxxx requests a payment or refund, don’t send any money without contacting eBay first. If payment was processed, a refund has not been issued yet just in case you’ve already sent the item.
  • If you already sent the item, contact the carrier to find out if you can stop the delivery and have the item returned to you.
  • If your listing has ended, you can relist your item.

So I didn't ship the item and waited for the issue to be resolved. This was 3 weeks ago.

In that time I made a call to ebay to ask what to do. They said again - Do not ship. That the issue will go away over time.

The item is still listed as sold on my profile and dispatch is now overdue. However, I cannot check the sale as if I click on it I get a page saying

We looked everywhere.

Looks like this page is missing. If you still need help, visit our help page

2 Days ago the payment was sent to my account. I now have both the money and the item.

I'm finding it hard to get advice - what normally happens next? Will the payment be removed from my account and the Dispatch Now notice be removed also? Am I supposed to cancel the sale myself, or continue to do nothing as I was told?

Any advice is welcome. I'm new to this and just want to know where I stand.

Buyer paid, ebay deleted his account

Hi nop-61, thanks for your post.

Please note that once you receive that message, you have nothing to worry about and no actions are needed from your end. So, you are ok, there is no need for you to ship the item at this stage unless you wish to do so, and if we had concerns about the buyer's account, you will not get a case filed against you by the buyer for this item.

Thank you,

Marco
