As the title says, I am being paid less than eBay says I should be getting paid, according to the reports that eBay itself provides.
As it now takes 2 weeks to get paid for items that do not have tracking, which all my items do not have, as they are all low value, and lightweight, so I use 2nd class stamps to post all my items, it became necessary to use a spreadsheet to track how I was getting paid.
I sell at least 10 items per day - sometimes well over 20 - so it is necessary to track what I should be getting paid, as it can become complicated if it gets really busy.
I set every single listing to 10% promotion costs, which keeps things simple.
I use two reports to predict what I should be getting paid :
Payments / Earnings*
Which shows promotion costs, but no refunds, or charges.
And :
Payments / Reports - Custom* - yesterday's date as start and end date, which downloads as an XLS file.
This shows all possible income, as well as deductions, such as Promotions, refunds, charges, and everything else that might get subtracted from the money earned.
This is then put through a sums calculator, to get a total (removing "---", and "payout" figures first).
This report shows all earnings, fees, promotions, refunds and charges.
In theory this should show exactly what you should be getting paid for any given day's sales.
These two sets of figures are used as a "withdrawal forecast" to predict what I should be getting paid every day.
On the whole they are accurate, and often predict almost exactly what I got paid.
However, there are loads of occasions where I am underpaid significantly.
One week, I was underpaid by £121.
One day in this week I was underpaid by £78 in one day.
I have highlighted this to eBay's help centre, via their email portal, on two occasions.
The first time I emailed, I was told that the difference in expected pay, and actual pay was down to "promotion costs", which is not the case, as promotion costs cost 11.85% of every item I sell, as that is the exact amount charged when setting your promotion costs to 10%.
Promotion costs are shown in both sets of reports I use (* as highlighted) and are shown clearly as being charged for both in the first report, which shows promotion costs as well as as well as in the XLS download report, which breaks down promotion costs to the line level detail.
Promotion costs are clearly baked in to these reports, so the reason for the difference cannot be attributed to "promotion costs".
I did point this out and was told that that was the reason they were giving, and I was not to email again on this subject as as far as they were concerned, there was no further debate.
This is so frustrating, unfair, and wrong.
The second time I emailed, after being underpaid £121 in one week, I was ignored, and they did not bother to reply to my email.
This email had daily breakdowns of costs, forecasts, and details taken from reports, that showed clearly that the reason was not "promotion costs", and that the amount I was paid, was not correct, as per the reports that eBay give us to measure such things.
I would like to be able to raise these concerns, without getting a telling off for doing so.
I think I should be able to discuss it, without being told "that we will not be discussing this further".
Promotions was clearly, and obviously, not the answer, and was clearly not the reason why I was being underpaid.
I wonder if anyone else is having the same issue?
Has anyone else checked to see if the amount they were getting paid matches the amount shown in the reports, that they should be getting paid?
Does anyone else use these reports?
Has anyone else checked these figures, or am I the only one to be having this issue?
I cannot think that I am the only one who has been experiencing this?
