Evolving Collection?

Little did i know when i started filling 2010 albums with my son that it would lead to the days of spending £400 at a time buying loose vintage sets for an ever increasing collection. I am now at the stage of looking to acquire mint quality items in the hope in the future they will yield good returns when i finally 'Panini retire'.

My collecting has evolved in the following stages:

1. Completing albums (empty and near complete) with loose stickers

2. Buying loose stickers trying to complete sets

3. Slight foray into the sticker packet collecting (never went too far)

4. Buying empty albums to go alongside sets i had managed to obtain

5. Buying sets/albums in the higher end of the market

Has anyone had a similar collecting progress to mine or has anyone done it differently?

Evolving Collection?

I have have done similar to you mate.  I managed to get all loose sets and most mint empty albums for the world cup and euros collections going back the mexico 86 . I never collected the packets though always tempted to open them 🙂 I decided to try something different and collect the panini football loose sets but have now decided the real value is still in the euro and world cup collections so going to get back to collecting more sets of them in the new year.

Evolving Collection?

Yeah im definetely sticking to Worlds and Euro's too pal. I have a few Football 78 & 79 albums that i will be looking to sell in the future and then solely concentrate on the big tournaments.

Evolving Collection?

I have always been slightly wary of purchasing historic sticker packets, after having a conversation with an experienced panini collector.

He told me that as an experiment he purchased a few sealed packets from older sets from a couple of ebayer sellers. He decided to open them, and found WC2010 stickers inside. He got a full refund, but subsequently decided to stop collecting the 'sealed' packets...
