i sold an item buyer wants to return was with free shipping and ebay have put funds on hold so cant refund the shipping amount please help

'Free Shipping' on a listing just means the seller is covering this cost,  which is just usally added to the item's price.

For a refund,  you need to refund everything the buyer initially paid you.

When they open a return case,  if your money is on hold, eBay will use your back up source,  which is usually your bank account.

When the refund has been finalised,  money on hold is released to you.

Why does the buyer want to return the item? If it's a change of mind return the buyer pays for the return shipping.

If the buyer claims that it's not as described you will need to send them a prepaid return label, which you can pay for and send to them through eBay. I presume that they have opened a case under eBay's money back guarantee?
