The postage was refunded to the buyer as they paid eBay for a label you did not use
'If you choose to purchase your own delivery label separately, you’ll have to cover the cost. If you would prefer to purchase your own label, you should opt your item out of the Simple Delivery experience at the point of listing. We do not reimburse the costs of using your own label.'

It's not a load of rubbish just because you disagree with it.
It is exactly what has happened and intended as shown in the quote I posted from eBay Simple Delivery Policy.
You can check for yourself https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/posting-items/setting-postage-options/simple-delivery?id=5575#se...
There's no extra cost for using the Simple Delivery programme. You also won't be charged transaction fees on the delivery costs for the postage label provided to you as part of Simple Delivery. See our Fees for private sellers article for more details.
Unless you've offered free postage, your buyer is charged for the delivery cost at checkout and the amount is then paid to eBay for the label. If you decide not to use the prepaid label, you'll need to purchase your own label instead at your own cost.
