So I sold something yesterday 8 Feb and realised that the buyer lived close by, so to allow him to receive the item quickly I agreed to hand deliver it - but in the original listing I didn’t have pick up as an option. I noticed that the payment would be withheld for 14 days, as no tracking details were posted. So I contacted eBay - the customer services person said if I got the buyer to confirm on the chat he had received it and was happy, the payment would be released. I did this and contacted them again. This time I was put through to payments where I was told this was now policy and was impossible to change - i find this very hard to believe. The person in the payments division was pretty unpleasant and I had to ask him several times to calm down.
It makes no sense that a buyer confirms receipt and the payment isn’t released - especially when i was told by an eBay employee that it would be.

eBay now holds payments for 14 days unless proof of delivery is available or a collection code is issued,as you hand delivered neither will be available and the hold will stand

Sadly not all ebay customer service personnel offer the correct advice, and as you hand delivered the item to the buyer, with no collection code given and entered your side, you will have to wait 14 days for payment.

I’m not sure what the motivation is to reply with absolutely no new or useful information; but thanks anyway.

They work for the company, they should do better. A waste of time following their instructions. But eBay get to keep my money at 4.5% in the money markets, so it works for them I guess and you get to tell me nothing I didn’t already know. So that’s positive.

The two replies to you here, came in at almost the same time,so no way each mentor was to know this when replying,so yes it's a duplicate reply which occasionally happens
