Ebay already has my information,
Bank account , credit card and PayPal.

Now they asking for passport and driving licence information not to mention
they holding my money.
I can't transfer it to my account, it should be in PayPal not eBay.
But i can spend it on ebay?

Basically it has nothing to do with law or tax, they just collect more info
they sell on.

I will speak tomorrow with my lawyer about this as its not on.

Please come back and let us know what your lawyer said. Be sure to let them have a copy of the user agreement too, before they give you their legal opinion.

To save you time and perhaps a hefty lawyer fee, although eBay may have your bank details, some members wish for another bank account to be used to receive payouts from sales.  So the bank account you wish to use for Managed Payments is needed and verified.

Here then security comes in.   eBay need proof that the bank account being used is from the owner of the eBay account.  Payouts now are withdrawn into said bank account , and not into PayPal, so eBay need to know the correct account is being registered.

We've all had to do it it's a security measure once you're all verified  you're all set to sell.

See here for eBay's Managed Payments registration:

@papso22  I haven't signed anything and I'm member since nearly 20yrs - if eBay reroutes fund of sales, they need to make you aware and should actually block you from selling until everything is sorted.

@tressygirl  I work in security and this has NOTHING to do with security.

eBay did not provide any information that if I sell I can not withdraw my funds - but I can use them on their platform - and that's the point where it's not security anymore.

This platform just allowed me to sell, basically confiscate my money but I can use it on their platform but I can't withdraw - all this without making sure that I'm aware of that change.

So, eBay UK is required to report to HMRC under the UK digital sales reporting legislation. This legislation mandates that eBay collect and report tax identification information to HMRC if a seller meets certain thresholds. These thresholds include either selling over £1,740 or completing 30 or more sales transactions within a calendar year.

In my case I haven't sold over £1.740 nor did I sell over 30 products, so there is no reason for them to withheld my money and asking me for this information.

And again, it seems from what I see now, I could have sold something worth over £2k, not withdraw my money but still continue using it on their platform.... you understand where I'm coming from.

With lawyers its all in the details.

Just to be clear, you don't need to sign an agreement for it to be legally binding.  As you say, it's all in the details.

None of us have "signed" anything. What you have done, as we all have, is to accept the user agreement as a condition of using eBay.

In it, you will find that you have given eBay permission to do everything they are doing. That's basically all we can explain to sellers who question why eBay wants this information. But if you prefer to pay a solicitor to explain this to you, that's up to you.
