Seller protection, what is it if I don't get my money back? Why do I lose money for a parcel lost in delivery? I have had to pay the money back but who pays me? I never got chance I was just told the parcel had not arrived we are paying the money back. The another item, ebay paid for the item because the buyer changed their mind! How in the heck do we know how it all works?

If you have had to refund a buyer because the item you sent never arrived, you can make a claim against the carrier by using your proof of posting.
Selling on Ebay is complicated.
You can always ask specific questions in this forum.

Thank you for that, I will have to get my receipt out and give it a go. I have tried getting money back before but not with ebay, privately and I had it go on for ages and gave up which is what I think they expect you to do with parcels, it isn't fair.

I meant to say 'Lose' not 'Lost' in the title.

Items do get lost in the post . That is why Royal Mail / couriers have a compensation procedure to follow.
In my selling days , 11 years of selling, I luckily I suppose , only had 2 go missing.
Buyers were refunded, rightly, as they did not receive the items they paid for. My proofs of posting when attached to the Royal Mail claim forms resulted in a full repayment to me for the loss of the items. It took 14 days, but they refunded in full, in cheque form.

We can't advise correctly unless we know whether you used Simple Delivery to send the item.

I did send them by simple delivery, evri I think was the choice. Just as it suggests on ebay. Last time I had to email someone taking the CEO emails to even get a claim moving. They are not very forthcoming when you need to claim off them.

It seems like I should use Royal Mail every time, it can be costly for them but I suppose in the long run they may be the best bet to avoid things like this happening. Thank you for your experience and I may change it all to Royal Mail as I pay the majority of the postage on my items. I am just trying to sell the things I bought and no longer want or need them. I'm small fry they would say. Julia

You're welcome glad to have been of help! 🤗
The thing with Evri in my humble opinion, is it boils down to, who you actually get, who physically delivers the item to your home.
We hear awful tales here of Evri deliveries being thrown over gates / hedges, delivered to wrong addresses, left in full view of passers by, only to be stolen, etc. etc.
However, we have a fantastic Evri lady. She's always on time sends me more messages than my children do, so I'm informed all the way where my item is, never ever been late, or non delivered.
Would I sell an item using Evri as a delivery... No, as I couldn't rely on a clone of my Evri lady doing the delivery, but I would have no hesitation selecting Evri from the wied choice now , of RM or Evri for delivery !

I take offence with the sorting office, I was told they don't care and just throw them into the wheelie bin type things they have and they don't care what goes on top. I was told this first hand, so the supervisors and managers are not doing their jobs properly.
I had a great guy delivering but each parcel delivered didn't give him enough to live on with his family, he now Ubers! I put all kinds of fragile stickers and tape along with polite messages but sometimes they just don't care.
I just looked at delivery prices and apparently compared to £2.98 the Post Office is £5 something and people buying don't want to buy things that are too much nor pay for the postage. What can we do?
Thank you for replying all the same. Julia

The seller does not refund for lost or damaged items in the post when they use SD. There is no mechanism for you to claim a refund back from ebay.

I am a seller, I sold a bone china figurine. The buyer said the parcel did not arrive so ebay took the money the buyer paid for the item and paid it back to them.
In the meantime, I got no payment and no figurine back so I am out around £15.00.
It says in my statement I am £15.00 short, I refunded by way of giving her/his money back and lost out money and a figurine yet you say the seller does not refund for lost or damaged items in the post. I don't get what you mean!

I suggest you read how seller's are protected when they post using Ebay's Special Delivery system. That tells you what should have happened if an item doesn't arrive, or arrives damaged.
