Vat from uk seller

Had a winning bid email from eBay and it said 20% vat will be added.

the seller is private seller,based in uk from 2011 and have contacted him and he's as clueless as I am , but did say the last two bid auctions , winning bidders didn't pay...??

That's so odd, I can see no treason for VAT to be added.

I'd contact eBay and ask them to take a look to see if they can spot a reason, there have been a few glitches recently with VAT being incorrectly shown.

That's a nonsense response, if the seller is a non VAT registered private individual they can't include VAT. 

My money is on the email being a glitch and no VAT being charged at checkout,  as we have seen many times before.  It's a shame eBay CS don't know about the glitch on their site!

That's just absolute gibberish!

Sounds like they were out of their depth so just made something up! 😁
