VAT added to purchases of children clothing.

I have noticed VAT being added to the purchase value of children's clothing. ( Age 7-8). Thought these items were VAT-free in the UK. Sellers have told me that it is added automatically by eBay.  Is this right?

If you bought from private seller, then the BPF includes VAT, as it is a service charged by ebay.

I.E. you are paying VAT on ebay fee, not the item purchased.
