Hello,
I sold an expensive item and mistakenly I had it set to simple delivery. Ebay auto generated a tracking number and label for the item. The customer also had time constraints upon delivery timings so to try to protect myself from potentially losing out on a lot of money if the buyer said the item was not recieved, I proceeded to buy upgraded postage at my own expense.
My item is now insured for full amount, tracked and signed for and delivery photo and will arrive in the correct time frame. The problem I have is that there is no way for me to update the Ebay system with my new tracking number. I have messaged the buyer within ebay to send them the relevant information.
I arranged a phone call with customer services and they said they are unable to change the tracking information and suggested I do what I have done above. The customer services operative was foriegn and didn't really seem to understand my issue.
So my question is, how can I make it so when my customer recieves thier item, the system will log the delivery as completed and release funds? Can the buyer click item recieved from thier end? There appears to be no way you can even email Ebay to sort out administrative issues.
Thank you.
PS. I know there was a similar thread earlier but it does not let me reply to it for some reason? Maybe only mentors can respond?

Only mentors can reply in this section and we try to supply accurate responses based on Ebay policy.
You have been advised correctly.
You can't change or update the tracking if you choose not to use Simple Delivery.
The buyer can't mark the item as received. You may have to wait up to 14 days for payment.
Your buyer could have chosen Express Delivery and paid a bit more. Simple Delivery covers items up to £750, and protects you against 'item not received' and 'damaged in transit' claims.

Thank you.
I was sure that I read that simple delivery only covers the cost fir up to £75 compensation, hence I payed £20 extra for next day special delivery with the extra insurance.
Also the simple delivery does not take confirmation of delivery. I recently had an item not recieved claim made against me even though the parcel was tracked as delivered. It was only a cheaper item £30 and in the end Ebay let me have the sale fee and also refunded the customer. I guess the item could have been stolen from thier door step or communal postage room.
A lot of people have told me to be very cautious selling more expensive items. Previously i did have one messer too who agreed to buy an item via "best offer accepted" and all they did was lock my item out of sale for a week and not pay. So I will never use that feature again.
Thank you for your help. I will relook through the simple delivery blurb now.
