I'm trying to sell a paramotor wing which is currently listed at £710.00 for auction or £1,000 for buy it now.
There had been no bids. A chap messaged me today to ask if I'd accept £800 on a buy it now basis. I've said 'yes'.
He placed a bid of 710.00 indicating his maximum bid would be £800.
No-one else has bid against him so the 710.00 just sits there. I've tried to revise my listing price but it
can't be altered.
Is there anything I can do to close this ebay deal at £800 or should he get a mate to bid £799 so that his £800 bid kicks in ?
With thanks

Nothing you can do now that he has placed a bid. Without bids it would have worked to revise the Buy it Now price to £800.
You can ask his mate to bid £799 but currently if no one bids, he will win your auction for £710.00! Your bidder may not be too willing to do as you suggest !

Thanks Tressygirl, very helpful.

Hopefully, you'll get higher bidders , so he will have to bid nearer his £800 offer, or perhaps even more!
Bidders often present an offer early on in an auction, if they can ' sniff' a bargain, and tempt the seller to sell for a lower price and make a sale early ! 🤗

Ask him to retract his bid, the Buy It Now should then reappear after a couple of hours and you can change it to £800.
