Simple delivery queries

1. Has anyone had a high value item go missing and been fully refunded when using simple delivery?

I did a couple of test listings, if I put the value at £50 eBay says I can post via Royal Mail for £3.64. if I increase the value to £700 eBays says the postage will be £3.94, this leads me to believe I won't be fully covered if the item goes missing as Royal Mail wants £10.95 to send the same size, weight and value.

2. Has anyone sent a parcel that weighs over 15KG via Evri using simple delivery?

If I remove Royal Mail from the courier list so the only option is Evri, eBay claims I can send up to 20KG, Evri's limit has always been 15KG.

3. How do I recoup the cost of packaging using simple delivery?

I always use twin walled boxes to post the items I sell, I buy boxes in bulk but they still cost £1.20 each, plus bubble wrap, it's costing approx. £1.30 in packaging, it doesn't matter if I start the auction at 99p or £2.29 to allow for the cost of packaging, the seller is still going to have the same total amount they're willing to bid, the only option would be to use buy it now.

A few posts give ways to opt out of simple postage, I'm using Chrome on a desktop but it looks like eBay has removed them.
