I'm looking to use Royal Mail Special Delivery for posting all my items as it offers tracked and signed for to stop over worked delivery drivers dumping the item on a door step and walking away, claiming it's been delivered.
It allowed me to do this for an item I just sold December 2025 but now it won't let me for next item I'm listing.
All I want is that warm cosy feeling that eBay has my back when sending any parcel knowing the delivery driver will have to take an extra minute to knock the door and ensure the persons in to get that signature and not just dumping it on a door step and scurrying away.
Is this asking to much?

With Simple Delivery ebay takes care of any INR you may have. Ask your buyer to open an INR and ebay will refund them, allowing you to keep the payment.
This also applies to items damaged in the post on arrival.

Yeah, but then I have to use my time to do this where eBay profit from it, where if I could select a tracked and signed for service then I wouldn't have to give it a second thought, the simple delivery is dependant on the delivery driver, for example DPD dump the parcel and take a low quality picture and you have to guess where it is, everi is the same, inpost is not much better despite them using lockers. But thanks for reply.

I am not sure what you would have to use your time to do?
If you use Simple Delivery, and the buyer opens a claim, Ebay deal with it.
Apart from reading the email from Ebay saying 'we are dealing with it, do nothing' you literally have to do nothing at all.
If you feel that you are offering your buyers a better service by using Royal Mail Special Delivery, you can still do that. You can list your items with free post/seller pays, use the postage service you choose, and claim a refund for the unused Simple Delivery labels Ebay will charge you for.
If you only want to use Royal Mail but want the benefits offered by Simple Delivery, you can opt to only use RM.

Hi jckl1957, experienced mentor, thanks for reply. Don't know if it's becase I might not be explaining it correctly. So I'll break it down.
What I do with my time is my business. And I don't want to waste it.
Using Royal Mail Special Delivery, not eBay Royal Mail Simple Delivery. Why? Royal Mail Special Delivery offers tracking and signature, Simple Delivery Royal Mail only offer tracking, no signature. None of the Simple Delivery options require a signature.
Ebay Deal With It, yes only after the person receiving the parcel has waited longer than needed complains to and threatens to leave negative feedback, then an investigation is launched, which takes even more time.
Claim A Refund? Forced to wait 30 days to get a refund, option to request refund is hidden away to force people down the Simple Delivery path.
But I do like your danish philosopher tag "There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.” How do I add a tag or are you only able to when your a Experienced Mentor.

Obviously your experience of Ebay is different to mine.
'after the person receiving the parcel has waited longer than needed complains to and threatens to leave negative feedback, then an investigation is launched, which takes even more time.'
This is a misconception and I am not sure what it is based on.
Buyers can open a claim one day after the latest expected delivery date. That applies whatever delivery method is used, is Ebay policy and has been the case for many years.
'Claim A Refund? Forced to wait 30 days to get a refund ...'
Can you provide links to Ebay policy that states buyers have to wait 30 days to get a refund?
'option to request refund is hidden away to force people down the Simple Delivery path.'
This is not true. If you read the Ebay details regarding Simple Delivery, there are clear instructions on how sellers can get a refund. See below:
If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. You can request a refund up to 14 days after receiving the label

hi jck1957
Yes it sounds like our experience is different, probably down to what we sell, and the expectations of the people that buy from us. My last item sold for over £2000. As you can imagine a signature from the person receiving it is reassuring rather than a picture of it in a wheelie bin or a shed.
Have you ever had to apply for a Simple Post refund? I have. Sold 5 items, requested 5 seperate refunds after phoning customer care to find out how to, they were brilliant and they talked me through the process. Then each one is investigated to see if it meets the requirements for a refund, 30 days later i was refunded for 4 out the 5, not all 5. I didn't follow it up as it had already taken up a lot of my time.
Also there's no misconception, eBay require you to wait 3 business days after the last day of the predicted delivery date before stepping in. It's not imstant as you seem to be suggesting.
And the threat of negative feedback is real, I've had it, think it's down to every one expects instants answers and results, and if they don't get it then they may feel hard done with.
So how do I get a signature as proof of item delivered using eBay Simple Post? Answer that and I'll give you a thumbs up and accept your soloution.

As said, you are covered up to £750 with SD.
If you want higher compensation, do freepost & include cost it start price, then buy postage yourself.

“eBay require you to wait 3 business days”
That is only if seller does nothing then buyer can escalate on day 4, then ebay takes over.
Time taken for refunds depends on how you pay, refunds go back to source, so using paypal and refunds are quick, debit card about 7 days, credit card up to 30 days. As paypal, like ebay only allow 30 days to open cases, this should be taken into consideration, as cards generally allow up to 180 days.
Threats of negative feedback can be reported as feedback Extortion, and any fb left will be removed. Also will not do much for the buyers reputation, when hoping for help frommebay.
