Simple Delivery Simply a Scam

The option for custom postage has vanished from the app today meaning I keep having to switch to the desk top version to use Advance Postage Options to opt out of Simple Delivery. absolutely ludicrous. Can’t eBay UK do anything right?

I did consider using SD when I realised I could exclude Evri (I need to use RM collection as I’m disabled and Evri break too many things in my experience) however Simple Delivery informed me the customer would be charged £5.15 for a package that would cost £3.25 because it was only giving RM medium parcel as an option. Absolutely ridiculous and I can only assume RM and eBay will profit from charging top rates in the full knowledge that most parcels will be smaller than 61x46x46. Some of my lower end items sell for as little as 99p. No way is a buyer going to pay £5.15 to have a 6cm high pottery owl delivered in a box over 2 foot long!!

Have you looked into using Royal Mail tracked 48. Provides insurance cover up to £150, covers reasonable sizes and I find competitive pricing. Better protection than as a parcel.

Simple Delivery Simply a Scam

I use it all the time for items over £20 but it is still more expensive than RM 2nd class which will compensate up to £20 and so is overkill for small cheap items. Plus my other issue is parcel size for RM is starting at 61x46x46 which is medium. Why on earth isn’t there a small parcel option anymore? As a result the 48 hour tracked cost starts at £5.15 which is one hell of a jump from £3.25 and not something buyers of a tiny ornament auctioned for 99p are going to be prepared to pay - I know I wouldn’t.
