Sent package to wrong buyer

Hi all, in sending something to a buyer, I printed what turned out to be the wrong postage label and sent it off. It’s only when the actual buyer contacted me to say the tracking hasn’t updated that on looking in to it, I could see my mistake. I have contacted the person receiving the package incorrectly to see if they can send it back, I’ll issue the refund to the buyer (unless they are willing to wait until this bit is resolved), but if the wrong person doesn’t sent the item back, I’m down a considerable amount of money. Any advice or anything else I can do, or a costly mistake that I have to take? Thank you.

I'm afraid there's nothing you can do if the buyer won't send it back.   Let's hope they're honest.

I've noticed with Simple Delivery postage labels it doesn't mention the title of the item after the initial page so it is quite easy to get them muddled if you're printing a few at the same time.     😞

Thank you for your reply. I hope they are honest too. They haven’t replied to my message yet and the actual buyer has been fantastic and understanding.

I agree r.e the labels, and unfortunately Royal Mail couldn’t do anything like message to postman to stop the delivery and just send it back, and I can see it has now been delivered.

You do realise that to get it back, you will have to pay for postage and send a reply paid label. However whatever you can do there is no guarantee that they will cooperate.

Indeed, I that in the message that I would do all of that, so fingers crossed they reply and will do the right thing.
