Selling to potential scammer

Hi. My listing for a camera ended last night and I’m concerned a scammer has won the auction after looking at their feedback from last two purchases (see photo) both of these were from camera sellers.they have not payed me yet.  Any advice on what I should do. Many thanks

eBay allow 4 days for payment after that you can cancel the order citing ' Buyer Ha Not Paid'  this gives the buyer that all important unpaid item strike on their account.

Those 2 sellers leaving those feedbacks not only broke feedback rules, you cannot leave negative feedbacks for buyers hence no ' red dot' it also as you have found,  served no purpose as the buyer was still free to come ad buy from you and become a potential non payer.  All it effectively did,  was to raise their positive rating by 2.

Had those sellers cancelled the orders as above the buyer would have received those strikes, and you should always set your site preferences to block 2 strike non payers.

If they do not pay after cancelling the order block them from returning to your sales,  too.

It looks as if your bidder makes the purchase and then opens a return using an invented reason, leaving you to pay the return postage and then hope that you get your item back in good condition.

Personally (and this is not in any way official Ebay advice but it is what I would do) I would cancel the sale and block the bidder.  You can cancel using 'out of stock or damaged' but still relist at a later date.

There may be repercussions.

The buyer will be able to leave you negative feedback.

You may get a defect on your selling account.

However, for me, that would be better than sending a pricey item off to this seemingly dishonest person and keeping my fingers crossed that they didn't start a return case within the 30 days allowed by Ebay.

If you haven’t been paid you haven’t been scammed.

if you are uncomfortable with the order do as @tressygirl  mentions or consider cancelling the order.

Thanks for your reply. I guess if they pay I just have to send it and hope I don’t have to deal with a return and refund if they become unhappy with the description of camera even if it’s stated does not accept returns on the advert . I’m going to take a detailed video of it working if I have to send it just in case.

I'm afraid a video will not help you should the buyer opens a case later for item not as described, eBay do not accept this ' proof',  as it cannot be proved the video is of the same item which was sold.

Personally, I would take the hit of a defect or a negative feedback and do as @jckl1957  suggests, that is to cancel the order citing out of stock , IF the buyer pays,  hopefully they won't , and you can cancel citing Buyer Has Not Paid,  this after 4 clear days pass , and this  has no seller performance issues.

Block them whatever happens!

Sorry to seem thick but how do I cancel sale. I can’t seem to find an option to do that. Do I just send cancelled due to out of stock on payment reminder message to them. Many thanks

On the item sold, top left click on View Order details.  Then far right from More Actions drop down menu you'll see Cancel Order.

Best to wait 4 days as cancelling for the reason ' Buyer Has Not Paid'  is the better option.
