Sellers item was damaged in transit

I sold an item in good condition it then got damaged by the courier in transit so the buyer wants a refund which is fair but how do I get compensation?

If you used Simple Delivery you are protected if the item is lost/damaged in transit.   So ask the buyer to open a return using "item damaged in delivery" as the reason.  Then eBay will issue the refund themselves and you keep the original payment.  They will not be required to return the item.
