Seller wrongly claiming 'unpaid' thus unjustified placed restrictions on my purchasing

I found a message from an unnamed person / operative of the charity

'

It should be possible to hold sellers to legal requirements of fairness and accountability that befits the magnitude of eBay .eBay was mentioned three times live on the Red Carpet of the Met Gala 2025, so with that level of recognition and global endorsement it is not okay for Sellers not fully to be held to account. As an example a seller has wrongfully placed restriction on my account and apparently using the message blocking facility given by eBay to sellers escaped accountability, enabling themselves with being unavailable to explain, correct, restore equal access.

A message sent at 12:41 BST 14/5/25 less than 72 hrs after I won a bid :

"Hi, Sorry to send an additional message however due to an increase in the number of unpaid items we are proactively reminding our buyers to make payment for their orders as soon as possible and in line with ebay's 4 days recommendation. Cancellation will be processed as usual at 7 days however it is much appreciated by the charity if payment can be made sooner. Please, if you are able, complete payment for your items asap.'

There was no 'unpaid item in my account. The single item was £5.05, I had active bids concluding within 24 hrs, a few the very evening of the message, this items were active live bids  which intended to conclude then request combined postage. When I went to bid that evening I found a pop,  'You are unable to purchase this item due to restrictions from the seller. Please contact the seller for more information. (3008)'

I lost items as I could no increase maximum bid, the next night the same. There absolutely no justification not only have several occasions purchased from the seller and paid timely even larger amounts , never returned items ever .

In this last four days I paid for the item and what I won lucky not be competed against else nothing I could have responded. The items have been dispatched and arrived today appeared hastily packed on this occasion the box was ripped wide at one corner, surely when dispatching this recent package the restriction on my account and messages inquiring what was happening must have been see.

I have been sending messages asking for the seeming at first tech error to be resolved but as there has been a wall of silence for four days now it is clearly deliberate act of malice, unjustified abuse of mechanism and disregard for fairness espoused by eBay. Very strange and unwelcome development since I have been on eBay for close to 2 decades never encountered the level of intransigence that this seller has recently displayed through this act. Forcing me to go public in this manner. As there is no justification else there would be an explanation, I am forced to post on the forum. The need for discretion denied.

I hope the admin team from see this and I hope eBay team sees this.

Who has had a similar bad experience? Any one got redress?

I'm afraid eBay Customer Service will not get involved in this,   and a seller can block anyone they wish to,  they do not have to give any reasons.

You have messaged the seller and they are not responding,  they may have blocked messages from you too.

You may never know the reason, but if blocked, even if in error,  if the seller does not unblock you you cannot bid / buy from them.
