Seller refusing to refund postage costs.

I bought a bike which didn't match the description and requested to return it to the seller (ANOTHER dropshipping business seller masquerading as a private seller*). The eBay postage label was no used as it was only for an item up to 2kg. I asked the seller to provide a returns label, but after several days no label. Therefore I posted the item back to the seller expecting him to reimburse me. (I will add that at this stage I didn't know that if the seller didn't provide a label, I would get a full refund and get to keep the item. I'm slightly gutted about this, but it's too late now.)

Two days after tracking showed the seller had received the item, he had not given me a refund so I had to ask eBay to step in. A sign of things to come...

Now here's the problem. The seller is refusing to refund my postage costs. I know that when an item doesn't match the description, the seller should pay the postage. I messaged him the invoice and he has said he will not pay. I have messaged him several times and he just ignores me. Having got nowhere this way, I contacted eBay's customer service who said to ask the seller again OR they could pay the money into my PayPal account. This confuses me because I thought eBay had cut ties with PayPal and surely eBay has other ways to refund the money. Also I do not have a PayPal account nor want one.

Has anyone any suggestions on how to get my money back (other than taking the seller to the small claims court (the last resort))?

*Every time I have to deal with a nuisance seller, it's a business seller pretending to be a private seller.

unfortunately you are in the sellers hands.

If they wish to refund they can refund to your PayPal account.

Re: Seller refusing to refund postage costs.

If you dpn't have a Paypal account they can pay you any way at all, bannk transfer, cheque etc.

Unfortunately ebay won;t get involved in this so it is between you and the seller.

You are right that if you had hung fire and escalated your case instead of paying P&P yourself ebay would have stepped in and supplied you with a label but it's too late now.
