Sorry if this has been brought up before but I was not aware of the change.
I have an item on buy into now or best offer. I got an offer today for an odd amount and find out the buyer has made an ok offer but the buy protection has also been deducted so the offer does not look that attractive. Is this how it is going to be from now on? This is crazy, am I meant to work out how much I should the counter offer with buyer protection? To be honest I have just about had Ebay. I only sell the odd thing to support the small local animal charity. I think I might be better just selling in Marketplace. I will accept the buyers offer as it is reasonable and think carefully before listing anything further. Thanks

You should find that you receive the amount offered, that is offer amount plus postage. Buyer pays the fees.
I just checked an offer I had yesterday and I received the amount in the offer plus postage.
It is very messy though, but when you are paid you should see full details of exactly how much buyer paid, including fees which are included and then deducted by eBay.

Thank you, wow that is very messy, I presumed I would be paid what is stated as the offer amount but not what the potential buyer actually offered. We are not talking big finance here just a few pounds, however it is the principle of the matter. I am glad I asked as I was tempted just to delist the item and relist without a best offer option. I wonder what “ genius” thought the changes up. Had terrible trouble getting the money from my last sale sent to my bank account recently, life is a little short to spend hours on the telephone to Ebay sorting stuff out. Perhaps Ebay has had it’s day! Appreciate you taking the trouble to advise I will get what the buyer has offered. Off to accept it now. Many thanks

Read about the Buyer Protection Fee which was introduced on the 4th Feb and resulting in those ' odd' prices now on Private seller's listings.
