The return has been agreed with the seller (a mobile phone for £59). But when my partner went to Royal Mail, and showed the QR code on my fone through a typical QR app, the clerk didn't accept it. And told her to go away and find out from Ebay. BUT didn't explain why (perhaps she was tired at the end of a long day?).
It has not yet been possible to speak to a human, and the automated response is worse than useless.
A) I shall try again tomorrow at a different p.o. (Are p.o.s the right place for Royal Mail?).
B) I shall go to an Internet cafe and print out a label
C) Is there a plan D or another way of doing it?

On occasion the QR codes may not scan if the display on your screen is too dark, for them to be read properly. It depends what happened at the PO!
Yes you need to take it to a post office, they scan and then from that should be printing the label to apply.

Thanks for your constructive response.
I should have added to my first post that there is a number linked to the QR code i.e. nine digits bookended by two letters at beginning and end. If as you point out, the problem may be in contrast or similar, can the p.o. locate the specific QR code by means of the identifying 2 letters + 9 digits + two letters?

In short they cannot locate it. when you go the QR code should for example look something like this (this is a rough example) there are no numbers etc to it. (and it wont have the scan me above it!)

Thanks Tommy,
Actually I am familiar with QR codes.
Your first comment re darkness possible being the root of the issue has caused me to increase the brightness ('Settings' 'Display' 'Brightness'), and I hope that will be sufficient. I'll post here tomorrow and let you know what the outcome is.
