Returning an item after a refund

I am being given a full refund.

What steps do I take (if any) to return the faulty item to the Seller

When a refund is issued before return ebay assume seller does not want it back so you cannot return via ebay.   You can ask the seller if they want it back and if they do they must send the cost of postage upfront using something like Paypal.   If they refuse or don't reply you can keep the item or do what you want with it.

Did you go about this in the correct way?

You open a NOTVAS DESCRIBED CASE, seller has to send you a reply paid label, and on return refunds in full.

If you are just relying on a promise to refund and you pay for return, then you may find you get nothing, and have paid out for postage that you do not need to pay.
