I’m looking for some help please.
My son created an account in 2023 (he was 17 at the time), I understand from him it was suspended which I presume was likely as it was a new account and he didn’t respond to a contact message within 30 days.
He has recently created a new account, which has also been restricted when we called customer service they confirmed it had been linked to the previous account which was restricted.
Is he now never allowed to use eBay ever again? Is there anything we can do to enable him to use an account?
It seems a little final to me, I’ve been using eBay for 23 years
thank you

Once ebay ban a person, it is for life.
You are lucky your account is still usable, ebay associate accounts to stop your son using your account & often ban both.

Ebay are quite unforgiving.
Your son opened an account before he was allowed to and, as that was permanently banned, it is entirely possible that any attempt he makes in the future to open an account will be blocked.

Oh wow that’s so very disappointing

If your son is still living at your address you should ask him not to try again to open an eBay account.
As has been said, you're lucky your own account wasn't restricted. In order to prevent restricted users from selling on family members or friends' accounts eBay applies the same restriction to any other user they can "associate" with a restricted account.
We once heard from a business seller who lost his entire business overnight when his account was permanely restricted because his son at the same address had been restricted.

Thank you for your post.
The restriction of the new account can be appealed if the old account was suspended for underage policy. Proof of age must be provided as part of the appeal and can be done through customer support. However if the reason for the suspension was for other reasons then it cannot be appealed.
Thank you,
Kat

Thanks Kat, he managed to recover the email associated with the 2023 account but the email didn’t have a reason for the suspension. How would we ascertain if this was indeed the reason?

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately we are unable to check account details here. He can make contact with customer support who should be able to review the details for him. Underage user would normally be mentioned in the account restriction emails so it may be possible here that the suspension was for other reasons.
Thank you,
Kat
