Refunds - Is there a system bug?

I have just done a refund to a buyer out of courtesy. The item was delivered by Evri to a neighbour and then to my surprise I received the item back.

I started a refund and the process is still running although I have had two emails telling me the buyer has been refunded and I can see the balance on my account has been reduced by the refund amount. The advice on the screen states I should receive an email stating how the refund money has been taken but nothing has arrived.

The circle icon that goes round and round when the process runs is still going round so what could the process be doing now? Is there a bug in the system? Can I logoff now or does the process need to complete first?

If you refund, while still on hold, ebay requires funds from another source usually money already in your ebay account or bank account, and when they send you details of refund they show details.

I would guess that refund was made from your cleared ebay balance if you can see it.

I have twice recently refunded small overpayments of postage, on same day received, before being released and ebay just took from funds already on my ebay account.

Refunds - Is there a system bug?

Hi john1297576,

Thank you for your advice.

The item was delivered as far as ebay was concerned but the delivery by
Everi was to a neighbour.  I assume it was the neighbour that returned
the item to me.

I did the refund out of courtesy and it appears to have gone through on
my side as the balance on my ebay account reduced by the refunded amount.

The issue I had was that there is an icon which appears on the window
while the refund is in process. It is a small circle with something
going round the rim. That continued to be displayed for a long time. I
eventually opened a second window on my account and the refund had been
made based on the reduction of the balance, hence my question is there a
system bug? Should the circular item not disappear once the transaction
has completed?

Kind regards

Ian
