I just had a return agreed. The seller ignored requests for a label and Ebay postponed the claim for 5 days for the seller to respond. The item I ordered was ordered using the sellers information provided by them. Now Ebay have said my refund is refused. That means I am left with a useless fuel pipe that is too short and out of pocket. The seller says, I got what I ordered by virtue of my own evidence showing the wrong pipe against the old one. The new one is the wrong shape and too short. So because I ordered that pipe, from data supplied by the seller, which was incorrect and I sent my vehicle details for them to make sure they sent the correct pipe, Ebay have now said they won't refund. I lodged an appeal but it is hard to do so constructively when all Ebay say is it has been refused, not why. Does anyone have any suggestions or do I just have to accept this financial loss? I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Hi,
You should have opened an eBay case for 'not as described' for your vehicle.
If eBay still not helping.
Consider contacting your payment provider and state the item arrived unsuitable for the vehicle / and details you provided to the Seller (and would make the vehicle unsafe).

Unfortunately 'does not fit' as a reason for a return counts as a change of mind and private accounts can refuse these.
However it sounds as if your seller might be a trader and should possibly have a business account, if so, perhaps you could get some leverage on a refund by threatening to report them to Trading Standards.

Thank you for that insight. I can't believe that Ebay went back on their
word. They wrote and said the return was suspended for 5 days to allow the
seller to send a label. If I didn't receive one in 5 days they would step
in and refund me in full. Then they said I hadn't returned it so won't pay.
What happened? Where's the label? Ebay are starting to look like crooks.
It's sad.
Kind regards
Dave.

The seller is in fact a trader but overseas. Does not fit in this case is a reason for return, Ebay confirmed the return. I ordered the item which was sent. Unfortunately, the item was ordered by number based on information provided by Ebay and the seller. A parts diagram from which I chose the part and gave then the number. The parts diagram was provided to me based on my vehicle registration number. I asked the seller twice for a return label, which they ignored. I contacted Ebay and they said, "We have suspended the retunr date time for 5 days and requested the seller send you a label. If the seller doesn't send one, then in 5 days we will step in and refund you in full." The 5 days went by and I went to my messages to see a message from Ebay saying my refund is refused. After pushing Customer service for a reason, they say it is because I haven't returned the item within the time frame! I was supposed to get a label or a full refund, instead they just discarded their promises, which should be a contractual agreement I think, and left me hanging and out of pocket with an item I cannot use as it is too short and not the same shape. I would never have believed Ebay could stoop so low as this. I'd post copies of the emails and diagram I was provided but it doesn't allow that much attachments.

A further developement. Ebay customer service has been back in touch. They have apologised for their previous colleagues mis handling of the return and have stated clearly that they hold me in no way responsible for any of this. They have requested the refund be issued and I should have notification of it having been refunded within the next day or so. Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I will see and come back and post what happens next. Thank you all for your support, advice and insight.
