Good afternoon
I purchased a part for my vehicle, fitted it and it didn’t work, so I contacted them to pursue a refund. They committed to sending me a refund after 24hrs of receiving the item back. I have proof of return but since I sent the item back, the seller has completely ignored my multitude of messaging, and I am now £120 out of pocket. They offered no replacement part and told me to order from a separate supplier and my refund will come through within 24hrs.
i am becoming increasingly frustrated as I am unsure how they processed the refund, as I had to pay for the return post and organise myself, I can verify my actions by receipt. I have waited and waited which has clearly resulted in the purchase falling outside of the timeframe required to leave feedback or get some support from eBay.
if there is anything anyone can suggest that may support me with finally getting my refund that would be greatly appreciated.
i also don’t want anyone else falling into the same trap i have as i believe that all of the above is to ultimately fleece me out of money
please please help me
huge thanks in advance
mick

There is not anything you can do through Ebay.
Too late this time, but you must use the Money Back Guarantee.
If you buy a faulty item, you should start a return case through Ebay.
The seller has to provide a label for tracked return postage.
Once they have the item back, they have 48 hours to refund you. If they don't do this voluntarily, you can ask Ebay to step in and they will compel the seller to refund you.
If you don't follow this process, then it is up to you to pursue the seller for your money back.

Did you not open a return case, as that is the way to do returns. Failure to use the ebay system leaves you in this sort of situation, and because you have returned outside the system, you cannot ask ebay to step in.
Ebay does put this on every listing - you just click on learn to get instructions.

On every listing is eBay's 30 day MBG Money Back Guarantee policy explaining if you receive an item not as described how to proceed for a full refund.
Have you opened a case for the return? Or just sent the item back hoping the seller will refund. If the latter you have no guarantee of a refund , so now proceed this way.
You have received an item not as described, go right of the item in your Purchase History and from More Actions select... Return this item selecting the reason Item Does Not Match Description or Photos.
The seller needs to accept this case within 3 days and refund, if they want their item back first , they need to pay for that fully tracked return postage, then on receipt of their item they have 48 hours to refund you. If you have paid for the return yourself ( you cannot receive this postage cost back now), enter the tracking number of the item returned, into the case details.
If after 48 hours of receiving their item they do not refund you, escalate the case, ask eBay to step in and they'll force the refund.
Never listen to any excuse or promise from the seller to close the case early, and do not forget to escalate.

If it failed after Ebay's 30 day money back guarantee then you are solely reliant on the seller's co-operation.

If you now only have the warranty to rely on, I suggest you contact Citizens Advice.
Warranties given by sellers on ebay are very difficult to enforce.
