Refund issue

EBay are so hard to actually speak to!! 
somebody bought and item from me they then cancelled the sale straight away without paying anything but eBay in the infinite wisdom have refunded them the purchase price. Has anybody had this before? TIA

They probably did pay but it hadn't cleared and showed as available in your Payment Summary.

eBay wouldn't refund if no payment was made.
