Refund a buyer extra money

I recently sold a tablet for someone.  Although hardly used the lady who owned it had forgotten the password and email account related to it. (She is 97) despite trying to reset it buyer unable to get into it. I wanted to issue him an extra amount of money as he tried hard to dirt the problem . However I was unable to change the refund amount. Is there a way I can now send him some money, or contact eBay direct ? I cannot find an answer in Help sections

As it would be done outside of ebay, and messages are monitored for members details like addresses etc thay can be removed,so why not look to send them a gift card instead,as you have there address.

You can only refund what's been paid but you could send extra as a payment from something like Paypal if the buyer gives you their email address or the phone number they have on Paypal.
