Protecting myself selling a van. I have a campervan listed as auction.

I have a campervan listed. I have watchers but no one has bid. I have messages like will you drop the van half way. I want to protect myself. I've advised anyone who buys the van to get a mechanic check it. What boundaries should I set, like buyer must collect/ inspect. Then if they bank transfer how long do I leave it until I let them drive away. If they didn't get it checked and it broke down on the way home where do I stand ( I don't think it would but it's an old van you never know, they might drive if like a loon) do I check if they have insurance? I believe I have 4 days from the end of the auction for the winning bidder to inspect/ agree to the sale? I'm guessing I don't give away my address for anyone to inspect it sooner? Someone asked for the number plate was that ok for them to look it up? I feel very naive so hoping for kind replies.

there's no protection on eBay for vehicles.

As your listing states - cash on pick up - that's what you do.

Buyers cannot inspect before buying.

Best way to sell a vehicle on ebay, is using the ebay classified add format, see here, Selling with Classified Ads | eBay

It's fine to give them the numberplate.

All vehicles are cash (or bank transfer if you prefer) on collection, so you can't get scammed here.

If you accept online bank transfer then you just log into your bank account while the buyer is there to check that the payment is showing.

Best to use Classified Ads >

Using a PC/Laptop > Classified Ads. at total £19. 99 will allow the exchange of contact details for viewing and price negotiation over a 30 day period ... set the Start price at or near the price that you would find acceptable ... >>> avoid inviting Offers as if accepted the listing stops and may never complete <<< ... just continue to Negotiate an acceptable selling price and only remove the Ad. when you have a definite buyer with Cash in hand or Bank Transfer is safely deposited/confirmed before handing over Vehicle  keys/documents on buyer collection. No further FVF selling fee is charged.
