Hi I am new to selling on EBay, I was not aware that I can print off shipping labels and drop off - I used Royal Mail instead and paid extra for this will this be refunded to me?

You cannot get back the postage you're now paid for.     But you need to mark the item as dispatched by opening the original Simple Delivery label.    Then add the new tracking number via View Order Details on a desktop browser.

Afterwards if you paid for the original label you can cancel it here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/claims/simple-delivery/refund/seller
Or if the buyer paid for it it will be automatically refunded to them in 30 days.

If you charged for delivery and the buyer paid they will get the refund automatically within 40 days

If you had free delivery then you need to apply for the refund https://www.ebay.co.uk/claims/simple-delivery/refund/seller as long as you meet all the criteria

You will not be refunded if you used your own postage and paid more than a Simple Delivery label charges,  be aware,  this also leaves you open if you do not update your tracking manually,  to receive item not received cases.

If you printed,  but didn't use the Simple Delivery label,  the refund is issued to whoever paid for that label:

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.  Also ensure you add the replacement tracking number of the service used, and it shows delivery.

If you're  staying as a Private seller,  that is , you are only wishing to sell your used,  unwanted items,  then familiarise yourself with how Simple Delivery,  which is mandatory for Private sellers,  works.
