Good Morning all,
I wanted to get in touch on this forum as I have noticed recently that Ebay are no longer giving me the option to pay for my own label at the Post Office unless I pay for two labels (prepaid and my own label)
After my item is sold, the cost of the prepaid postage label is automatically deducted from the selling price of my listing. I understand the cost of a prepaid label can be refunded through Ebay once cancelled although I am unable to cancel these labels even when they have never been scanned by the Post Office.
Further to this, when I take my items to the Post Office, they occasionally refuse my prepaid postage label, claiming that it is the incorrect label (item exceeds parcel size and weight) where I then have to pay for my own label directly through the Post Office. I even check the label specifications with the Post Office before they scan the label, and sometimes they will confirm it is the correct label, until they scan it, where they then decide it is the incorrect label and refuse to accept the parcel unless I pay for another label!
I spoke with Ebay Customer Services yesterday, they had mentioned that my local Post Office will be contacted to refresh them of the new policy with prepaid labels through Ebay - Post Office should never refuse an Ebay parcel and should instead make a claim to Ebay who will refund them the difference (if the correct label were to cost more than the prepaid label). I am not entirely confident that Ebay will contact the Post Office as promised, and I will have no option but to pay for another label if it is the incorrect prepaid label.
As you can understand, paying postage twice for even just a few listings is not profitable or cost effective. I have also noticed that postage labels for some of my items would even be cheaper than the Ebay prepaid labels! Ebay should revert back to having prepaid labels as optional, for the seller to decide whether they want a prepaid label or if it is automatically deducted from the selling price like it is currently, Ebay should at least make it possible to cancel these labels if they have not been scanned.
I wanted to post this here as you who might be reading this could be experiencing the same thing? Let me know as I am understandably annoyed by this new process!
